It's a bit silly to say you removed it to make the appearance look less cluttered, yet the status bar is hidden by default. This isn't a major issue, but it's one that if the functionality is returned, would allow us to continue easily troubleshooting website scripting and functionality errors for end users. I will not have IE9 as long the Zone status and Protected Mode status on the Status Bar is gone. I'm sorry, but I've given MS a long, long time, and many, many chances.
